Billion Oyster Project
Billion Oyster Project is restoring oyster reefs across New York Harbor and rebuilding the conditions for a thriving, resilient city through restoration and education.
Our Mission
Billion Oyster Project is on a mission to restore 1 billion oysters to New York Harbor by 2030, and to engage 1 million NYC students as the next generation of environmental stewards.
Our Impact
Restoring the oyster population to the ecosystem of New York Harbor cleans the water, supports biodiversity, and enhances shoreline resilience. Engaging the next generation of New Yorkers in this work is critical to redefining nature's role in the city, and ensuring a thriving ecosystem for the future.
